WALDEMAR BASZANOWSKI DIES !!!
POLSKA SZTANGA: Former Olympic and world champion weightlifter Waldemar Baszanowski has died at the age of 76 after a long illness. He died in a Warsaw hospital early that day, following a medical procedure. Baszanowski was lightweight Olympic champion in 1964 and 1968 and world champion in 1961, 1964, 1965, 1968 and 1969. Between 1999 and 2007 he was president of the European Weightlifting Federation. In 2008 Baszanowski suffered an accident that left him partly paralyzed. Twice widowed, Baszanowski is survived by his third wife Teresa, a son and a stepson. About W.Baszanowski...
